Victim’s Name: Mohammad Nabi Sultani
Date of Incident: July 23, 2016
Place of Incident: Dehmazang Square, Kabul
Mohammad Nabi Sultani was born on July 6, 1994 in Waras District of the Province of Bamiyan. He started studying in Shahr-e-Naw High School of Waras but as his parents moved to Kabul, he had to continue in the Sayed Shohada High School of District 13 in Kabul. He was exceptionally talented and hardworking and graduated as the top student of his school besides which he also learned English and practiced martial arts.
Our son was 22 years old when he was killed, but he had already accomplished a lot despite struggling with severe poverty and financial hardships. He had passed the Kankor University entrance exam and was accepted to Kabul University for a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. Besides studying there, he was working as a manager and coach in the kickboxing club he had launched and as an English Instructor at a language learning center. He was not the kind of person to stay at home and do nothing. He devoted even the last fragments of his time to do something meaningful for his family and friends which is why his friends always called him ‘Ustad (teacher) Sultani’.
My wife and I will never forget the loss of our beloved son. His mother cannot stop crying and is since inconsolable, sick, and sorrowful since his death. I added his belongings to the Memory Box hoping it puts a stop to parents having to see the bloody body of their young and brave sons right before their very eyes.
