UN DSRSG and Nordic plus Ambassadors visited the Afghanistan Center for Memories and Dialogue (ACMD)

Today 22 April 2019- Ms. Ingrid Hayden, the United Nation Deputy Special Representative of Secretary General (UN DSRSG), Mr. Richard Bennett, the Chief of UNAMA Human Rights Service, Mr. Tobias Thyberg, the Ambassador of Sweden, Mr. Peter Krogh Sorensen, the Counselor of the Embassy of Denmark, Mr. Per Albert Ilsaas, the Deputy Head of Mission, Chargé d’ Affaires, Embassy of Norway, Dr. Simar Samar, the Chair of Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) and Ms. Sonia Iqbal, the Director of Open Society-Afghanistan visited the Afghanistan Centre for Memory and Dialogue (ACMD). Upon their visit, they also watched a short video highlighting the progress of ACMD initiative from an early stage to the current status and shared their reflections regarding the importance and impact of memorialization in preserving the memories of war victims and healing the wounds of those affected by different cycles of war and violence during the past few decades. They were also debriefed about the methodologies, approaches, risk and challenges of working with war victims in different provinces.
