Recently, AHRDO took initiatives to translate, adopted the play “Speak Truth to Power” in accordance with Afghan context, and recorded as radio theater in Afghanistan which is already delivered in different provinces for widely broadcasting.
Mainly the content is based on the human rights theater play with the same name written by renowned Chilean Human Rights activist Ariel Dorfman.
The play portrays the struggles of actually existing human rights activists from different countries and continents working on a variety of human rights related issues including democracy, freedom of expression, and right to a fair trial, illegal detention, torture and domestic violence.
Using symbolic, yet accessible language, the play serves as a very powerful reminder of how the courage and resilience of individuals “doing what they had to do” can contribute to a “better world”.
