On December 6, 2019 Nema Milaninia argued before the Appeals Chamber of the International Criminal Court in an appeal concerning the launch of an ICC investigation into the alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.
Representing 17 Afghan human rights and victims organizations, Mr. Milaninnia argued that unlike the Court’s decision that the launch of an investigation was not in the “interest of justice,” Afghan victims viewed the Court’s launch of investigation as the last resort to end the entrenched culture of impunity in Afghanistan.
